Easter thoughts... a week too late

My 13 year old sister had a new camera for Christmas and has been enthusiastically playing with it. In order to liven up our traditional Good Friday walk we decided to have a photo competition with the theme of 'The Spirit of Easter'.

She did pretty darn well and even got the winning picture? Which do you think is the winner - and is there any indication as to who took which?

Um ... the barbed wire?

They are all lovely pictures - I'm impressed that you both found so many beautiful things in a single walk. My first thought was that the barbed wire stood out as representing 'The Spirit of Easter', but then I wondered whether my first impression to that effect was because it was so shocking among all the other more natural/attractive things. (I do also very much like the lamp-post one for the Narnia overtones.)

So, looking at each picture individually, I think the winning photo for me is the second one: it still hints at the crown of thorns with the spiky foliage (is it gorse? I can't tell) and also sums up the transition of the seasons with the contrast of the bright yellow flowers beginning to open from bud and the hint of frost or dew on the flowers. Good Easter symbolism, the golden light-shining flower rising from the harsh thorns ;-)

Which one did you decide was the winner?
